Autumn Newsletter 2024

Our Autumn 2024 Newsletter aims to bring everyone up-to-date with the latest information about voluntary assisted dying laws in Western Australia.

In his President's Report, Steve Walker reminds members about the General Meeting of DWDWA on Wednesday 15 May 2024. (NB We apologise for the mistake in the notice at the bottom of page 1 that refers to 18 May. The General Meeting is definitely Wed 15 May 2024). Steve Walker also discusses the recent review of WA's Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD); Dementia, capacity and VAD; and the issue with Telehealth and VAD.

Dr Richard Lugg reports on the Fourth International Conference on End of Life Law, Ethics, Policy and Practice (ICEL4), which he attended in Salt Lake City in March.

Dr Liz Jacka reviews a book titled 'A Completed Life' written by the late Dr Rodney Syme and edited and published by Dying with Dignity Victoria.

Dinny Laurence provides a tribute to VAD advocate, Shayne Higson who recently resigned from her position as CEO of Dying with Dignity NSW.
