Our Spring Newsletter 2025 aims to bring everyone up-to-date with the latest information about voluntary assisted dying laws in Western Australia.
In his President's Report, Steve Walker updates supporters in the progress made in our campaign to persuade the Premier and Parliament to properly consider improvements to our Voluntary Assisted Dying Act. He reports on the work undertaken by Anthologie, the advocacy and marketing group engaged to assist with campaign including the workshop held in September and interviews carried out with a range of people with important perspectives. His report covers other other DWDWA activities and concludes with a reminder about the upcoming AGM being held on 22nd October.
Other content includes a report by Gail Wyatt on this year’s Dying to Know Day, an article about Walker Family Funerals, the new kid on the block with its roots grounded in compassion, creativity, and integrity and Peter Wilkins provides a comparative perspective on VAD in WA and Victoria.
Dinny Laurence and Julie Cinanni provide further details on DWDWA’s campaign for improvements to WA’s Voluntary Assisted Dying Act. Dinny also reported on the launch of a book by the Hon Dr Toni Buti MLA entitled 'A Considered Act: How Voluntary Assisted Dying Became Legal in Western Australia'.
To conclude the Spring Edition, Margie Lundy encourages supporters to consider nominating for the Committee at the upcoming AGM.
